Are You Waiting for the Right Horse on the Carousel?

The carousel has gone around several times and you still have not picked your horse. What are you waiting for? Every time it makes another round you have missed the chance. Does the horse matter or is it about the ride? By waiting are you missing the ride? Will the time ever be right to get on the horse?

You get my drift! I am talking about waiting for the right time in life to do what we have always dreamed of.

I hear it from artists who attend my workshops - how they put art on the back burner for a large part of their adult life because of their career, raising children, getting an education, etc.

Why wait - do it now! But I don’t have time, I don’t have talent, I don’t have money for supplies. Any of these sound familiar?

The truth is you don’t need talent to make art! You have time, and you need very little money to get started. In fact a pen or pencil and some paper from the recycle bin will do! Or some magazines and glue.

I loved reading Danny Gregory’s book The Creative License: Giving Yourself Permission to Be the Artist You Truly Are on how he started to draw his life every morning while the kettle boiled. Check it out here.

And if you fear you have no talent he has a book about How to Draw without Talent

An artist I follow on Instagram @betsysilvermancollage makes amazing collage art out of recycled paper.

Is it time to stop watching the carousel go round and round waiting for the right horse or is it time to get on a horse and start the journey?

You decide.

If you don’t know where to start a workshop can be the perfect thing.

I offer several workshops in a safe and comfortable environment. I keep my class sizes small to ensure you get personal help.

Check out my offerings here.
