Ditch Resolutions

It is January and we have the best intentions for the year ahead. Often we make resolutions only to break them sooner or later. A decision to do something does not have sticking power. We need to set a goal and have an action plan. Then we need to make a habit to help us achieve it. Many small steps help us win.

It is much easier to commit to writing a page a day rather than the overwhelming goal of writing a book.

It is about forming a habit and showing up. Putting it on your schedule is another sure-fire way to get things started.

Use visualization as a way to see your desired result. Or even better make a visual reminder like a vision board.

Sometimes we don’t have the clarity to even know what it is we are really wanting. I find meditation and journaling to be a great tool to connect with my deeper self.

Choosing too many goals at one time can also hamper our progress.

The other thing I do is to commit to a Guiding Word for the year. I find this very helpful. Over the years I have used simplicity, complete, focus, to name a few.

I haven’t quite nailed down one for 2020. How about you - do you choose a guiding word?

I have two workshops coming up on January 11th to help you. The first one is “Guiding Word”- we will create a visual reminder of your chosen word using collage and paint. The second workshop is a Soul Board - this is like a vision board but it is about uncovering what lies deeper and can give you clarity on what your heart desires.
